Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup
Onion - 1/2 cup , chopped finely
Green Chillies - 2-3 , chopped
Lemon - 1/2
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Channa Dal - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Garlic Pods - 7-8 ( the more the better )
Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
Cashewnut (optional)
Oil
Salt
Rice - 1 cup

Procedure:
- Cook the rice and cool it so the grains are separate.
- Heat oil in a kadai and fry the garlic pods as a whole , to golden brown.
- Remove the pods & keep it separate.
- In the remaining hot oil, add mustard seeds, channa dal and curry leaves.
- Saute the chopped onion and green chillies.
- Add a pinch of asafoetida, turmeric powder and adjust salt as required.
- Put in the fried garlic pods and mix.
- Keep the heat in sim or lowest heat and add the lemon juice.
- To this, add the cooked rice and mix well.
- Adding fried cashews at this stage is optional. & ... we are done !!
